Located in the Scottish Highlands the city has a lot to offer even if you don’t want to travel further afield to see the amazing scenery, castles and other attractions. There are many things to see and do in and around Inverness and as an added bonus there is a great choice of restaurants, bars and even a casino.

A walk a long the River Ness is an excellent way to pass some time on a sunny, summer afternoon and you may even spot a passing seal. You can walk along one side of the river past Bught Park until you reach the footbridge which links to Ness Islands. The islands are a pretty and tranquil place to be with families and children strolling through as well as the locals walking their dogs. As you continue through the islands you eventually reach another footbridge which takes you back off the islands onto the river footpath on the opposite side. As you walk along this side of the river you can enjoy a rest on the benches and further along take a look at the Inverness War Memorial with it’s floral masterpieces all around.

Caledonian CanalFor those that want to experience more of the beauty, quiet and supremely fresh air a walk along the Caledonian Canal is a must. There are boat tours along the canal, run by Jacobite who have a base at Tomnahurich Bridge, and you can see one of their boats, the Jacobite Queen.
